Northwick Park Hospital is a hospital in Greater London, England. It is located in the northwest corner of the London Borough of Brent, near the boundary with the London Borough of Harrow. Founded in 1970, the hospital has 463 beds and occupies a large site of several buildings. The Northwest London Hospitals Trust also incorporates hospitals at Ealing and Park Royal.
Due to increase pressures on internal resources, the Hospital needed to contract in external fire training provision in 2014 and made an enquiry to UK Fire Training based on experience with other London hospitals. After an initial consultation phase, we developed a bespoke Fire Marshal package to be delivered over a 2 month period.
Arrangements were made for a “live fire” extinguisher practical sessions to be carried out in a safe area of the hospital grounds. The hospital made arrangements for 300 staff from all departments to be trained as Fire Marshals. Sessions were schedules to cater for shift patterns and ran from July and August.
The Firecode and associated Health Technical Memoranda such as HTM 83 were taken into account in all training delivered and tailored certificates were issues for all staff. A rolling programme was instigated to keep training up to date.
